In a nail biting final day of competition in Castleisland the athletes of
St Brendans AC triumphed to take the Kerry County Championships by just
2.5 pts from Gneeveguilla to retain the title they won in 2007. It was all
to play for and the parents and supporters were not disappointed by the
level of competition on Sunday. Eoin O’Carroll TH was again in fantastic
form taking gold medals in the 800m, 75m hurdles, long jump, shot, and the
4 x 100m relay. Daniel Shanahan St Bren also had a great days competition
with medals in the 800m, hammer, 75m hurdles, and the 4x100m relay. The

Two extra cups were awarded on the day, The Mary Lucey Perpetual Cup was
presented to Gneeveguilla AC, winners of Girls U-14 Relay and The Eamonn
Fitzgerald Shield was presented to Padraig Whelan, Lios Tuathail AC,
winner of the Boys U-17 Triple Jump.

The BHAA Garda 5km in Ringaskiddy, Cork took place on Thursday with over
300 finishers. Kerry had two of the top ten past the line with Ed Murphy,
GN taking third in 16.04, and Tim O’Connor AR, ninth in 16.30. In eleventh
place just behind his clubmate was James Doran in 16.43. The ever-present
Tom Shanahan was3rd in the O45s in 17.34.
