Sunday saw the first days action from the Kerry AAI Juvenile Championships
in Castleisland, the weather was fine and sunny with almost  300 athletes
in the U9 to U13 age groups taking part in different track and field
events. There are two more Sundays of action  between the clubs including
the masters competition taking place next weekend along with the U14 -U19
athletes and the following Sunday (18th) seeing action in the walk,
hurdles amongst others. The points totals so far are as follows :

On Wednesday the Kerry Colleges T & F Championships were held. There were
nearly 500 students who participated, and the event was well supported  by
students and parents alike.
There were some great individual performances including
Louise O'Connor, Mercy Mounthawk, Minor 100m/1st; Long Jump/2nd; High
Jump/1st.
Stephanie Collins, Tarbert Comp., Junior 100m/1st; 800m/2nd; Long
Jump/1st; Shot Putt/3rd.
Adrian Enright, Voc. School Abbeyfeale, Minor Boys 100m/1st; 300m/2nd;
1500m/3rd.
Luke Evans, Mercy Mounthawk Junior Boys 300m/1st; 1500m/1st.
Shield for Best Boys School was won by Tralee CBS with 38pts. Mercy
Mounthawk was 2nd with 35pts, St. Michaels Listowel was 3rd with 15pts.
Shield for Best Girls School was won impressively by Mercy Mounthawk with
56pts. Tarbert Comprehensive were second with 27pts, Intermediate School
Killorglin were third on 24pts.
Schools action now moves to North Munster’s next Tuesday in Castleisland
and on Thursday in Limerick.


The Middleton AC Road race was held on the 2nd May and An Ríocht runners
were out in force, Donal O’Callaghan 2nd  (26.01), Eoin McKenna 6th
(27.09), Tim O’Connor 10th (27.36), Tom Shanahan 2nd Over 45s (28.41).
Willie O Riordan of St Brendans ran a respectable 31.08 to finish 3rd in
the over 50s. There were 236 finishers.
