Kerryman Article 16/3/09
On Friday 13th The Kerry County Awards night took place in the Brandon
Hotel, Tralee. The event was well attended and Liam Hennessey, chairman of
Athletics Ireland also attended. In his address he praised the
achievements of Kerry athletes, Niamh O’Sullivan and Eilish Fitzpatrick in
particular and hoped that there would be a Kerry presence in the Irish
team that will head to London in 2012. Thanks to the Brandon Hotel for
hosting the event and to the county board members who organised it.

The Munster Senior and Novice Roads Championships to place in Rathkeale
County Limerick on Sunday. In the Sen Women’s race, Niamh O’Sullivan of An
Ríocht came second. Kerry took 4th place in the women’s county placings
and 4th in the novice women’s 2 miles. In the Novice men’s race Joe
O’Connor An Ríocht rook 3rd place with Cian Murphy of Iveragh taking 3rd
place and Donal O’Callaghan of An Ríocht taking 4th place in the sen men’s
race. Gneeveguilla took 5th club and Kerry 4th place in the novice men’s
race with An Ríocht taking 1st place in the sen men’s race with Kerry also
taking 1st place in the club positions
