Kerryman Article 26/1/09
A fantastic win by the Kerry U12 Cross Country Team happened at Boyle in County Roscommon on Sunday at the AAI Inter county Relays, the first time in a good few years that a Kerry team has taken a gold medal at the event. The team was made up by Adam King, Jack Daly both Iveragh, Dean Crowley Gneeveguilla, Shane Lowth St Brendans. Congratulations to all four of them.
There was plenty of winning action from Nenagh over the weekend with the Woodie’s DIY AAI Junior Indoor Championships on Saturday. Kerry had wins in both the Jun mens and womens Shot putt and the Jun Mens and Womens Walk

Sundays Action was just as exciting at the AAI indoor games with Personal Bests from Claire Fitzgerald, Tralee Harriers who won the Sen womens Shot Putt with a putt of 13.16m and Daniel Clifford, Farranfore/Maine Valley who had a putt of 12.83m to take third place in the Sen mens shot which gives an indicator of the level of competition on the day. Jer O’Donohgue from Riocht, who has been committed to Nenagh over the years, dominated the 60m to win in 6.91. Laura Crowe of An Riocht had a great day of competition to win the women’s 1000m comfortably in 2.53.74. Niall Prendiville took part in the Sen Mens 3km walk, but in a field that included Irish Olympian Robert Heffernan he walked well to take 6th place. Robert was back at a venue that he has graced so well for many years. He gave yet another exhibition of race walking and his fluent style showed just why he has made it to the very top of his chosen event. Results
